Deconstructed Reality
Oil paint and Markers on Canvas
18” x 24"
Departing from emotion, 'Deconstructed Reality' shifts its focus to the physical, reflecting the repercussions of the pandemic on the body—manifesting a sense of disconnect, disembodiment, and otherness. It presents an uncomfortable portrayal of reality where the body echoes detachment. Serving as a commentary on insomnia, pain, and the general human experience, the artwork strategically employs color to convey its profound meaning. 'Gassy Greens' and deep sea blues juxtapose with vibrant hot pinks, blood reds, and purples against a medicinal yellow backdrop. Guided by the Rule of Thirds and adopting a scientific, diagram-like approach, the gridded painting unveils drowsy eyes, floating sheep, and an abstract representation of a spinal cord emerging behind a blurred, bloated figure.
